ShareAn Analysis of the Distribution of Cost-Sharing Levels in Individual and Small-Group Coverage

Through the economic crisis and debate over health care reform, it has become obvious that the insurance coverage for individuals and small groups is not as generous as the coverage for large groups. In this report, America's Health Insurance Plan, (AHIP), analyzes responses to surveys about small group and individual coverage. Results from the survey showed a broad distribution of coverage, copayments, and coinsurance that is not nearly as considerate as the large group insurance. Some findings from the surveys and responses included people preferring PPO's, deductibles changed every year, and some plans offered no deductibles.
