ShareKansas Child & Family Services Review Final Report

This document presents the findings of the federal Child and Family Services Review for the State of Kansas. It was conducted the week of June 11, 2007. The period under review was from April 1, 2006, to June 11, 2006. The reviewers inspected a Statewide Assessment conducted by the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS), the State Data Profile prepared by the federal department of Health and Human Services, reviews of 64 cases at three sites: 31 in Sedgwick County, 16 in Lyon County, and 17 in Douglas County; and interview or focus groups.

The Kansas child welfare system has used contractors to provide Child Welfare Community-Based Services since 1996. The contractors are responsible for family preservation, foster care, reunification, and adoption services for the life of a case.
