CMS Letter to New York State Department of Health Regarding ICF-MR Rate Setting
The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) asked the state of New York to provide more information about the rate-setting methodology used for
services provided to individuals residing in one of nine state-run facilities certified as Intermediate Care Facilities for persons with Mental Retardation. CMS sought to
review the process after learning that the state received about $4,500 per resident per day in aggregated state and federal Medicaid reimbursement.
