2010 Revision of the 2001 Plan for Compliance & Conclusion in Evans vs. Fenty

On August 10, 2010, the U.S. District Court appointed Kathy Sawyer to serve as an independent administrator overseeing the District of Columbia’s services for people with developmental disabilities and help the District comply with court orders in the class action lawsuit, Evans vs. Fenty, which was filed in 1976. The Court also approved the District’s 2010 Revision of the 2001 Plan for Compliance and Conclusion intended to improve the District’s services for the approximately 2,000 Evans class members—people with developmental disabilities who receive services from the Department on Disability Services Developmental Disabilities Administration.
