ShareReport on Mental Health Issues at Los Angeles County Jail

This report, commissioned by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Southern California, found that mental health staff at the L.A. County Men's Central Jail routinely fail to diagnose serious mental illness among prisoners and frequently downgrade the diagnoses of prisoners with well-established mental disorders. The ACLU has called on the L.A. County Board of Supervisors to close the jail, arguing that an attempt to remedy the situation would not be feasible or cost-effective.
