The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) held a special Open Door Forum conference call on accountable care organizations (ACOs) as part of the Medicare Shared Savings Program. The Forum focused on the formation and use of ACOs, to enhance the quality and efficiency of physician services. CMS sought to solicit comments from physicians, physician associations, hospitals, consumer groups, and all others interested in the implementation of this new program.
