 Maricopa County Contract HP632209 Frequently Asked Questions
On June 12, 2007, the Arizona Department of Health Services awarded
Magellan Health Services a contract to act as the regional
behavioral health authority (RBHA) in Maricopa County. This document
provides answers to questions from providers, consumers, and
community stakeholders about the transition from ValueOptions to
Magellan. Magellan has already begun enrolling providers, and will
begin services September 1, 2007. The contract will run through June
30, 2010 and has two additional one-year extensions.
The RBHA solicitation also included additional specifications that
require the contractor to provide more health care choices for
Medicaid-eligible beneficiaries and enact controls to produce
greater service provider accountability. The key difference is that
the RBHA will no longer provide direct services, but instead will
serve as an administrator for the providers.
