 Questions to the Ohio Department of Mental Health on the Proposed Closure
of the Twin Valley Dayton & Appalachian Cambridge Campuses
The Ohio Department of Mental Health responded to stakeholder questions
about its decision to close two public psychiatric hospitals Twin
Valley Behavioral Healthcare in Dayton and Appalachian Behavioral
Healthcare in Cambridge. Ohio Governor Ted Strickland announced the
closure plan in January 2008. The closure plans considered the two
facilities' proximity to other state hospitals, the excess beds and
availability in a given region, the age of the building, and the cost of
operation.
