ShareLetter from New York State Office of the State Comptroller to Delhi Central School District

The New York State Office of the Comptroller conducted an audit of eight school districts across the state to determine if school district officials are claiming the Medicaid reimbursement to which they are entitled for services provided to eligible special education students. The audit period was July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2005. Delhi Central School District (DCSD) officials failed to claim $226,605 of Medicaid reimbursement for targeted case management reviews and on-going service coordination, and related services conducted during the period of July 1, 2003 to June 30, 2005. As a result, the DCSD did not receive its share (25%) of Medicaid revenue of $56,651. However, after the audit the District submitted two additional claims for reimbursement for over $84,000. The DCSD share of those claims was $21,000.
