ShareAn Aging World: 2008

In the United States, in 2050 the 65-and-older population is expected to grow to 89 million from 39 million in 2009. By 2020, the global population aged 65 and over will outnumber children under age five. The researchers noted that older populations are often aging themselves and that the population of oldest old, those 85 and older, has been growing faster than the population of younger older people.
