ShareState Children's Cabinets and Councils 2008 Directory. Rev. Ed.

In States across the country, established through legislative or executive orders, cross-agency coordinating bodies called children's cabinets, commissions, or councils are systematically changing the fragmented way States do business for children and youth. Children's cabinets and councils typically are made up of heads of government agencies with child and youth-serving programs, who meet on a regular basis with the collective goal of coordinating services, developing a common set of outcomes, and collaboratively deciding upon and implementing plans to foster the well-being of young people. Part 1 of this directory provides information about children's councils in different States and Part 2 profiles high-level State councils, collaboratives, and committees. Each entry includes information on the development of the council or committee, membership, staffing, results framework, initiatives, strategies, funding, and accomplishments. Contact information is also included.
