ShareZelman v. Simmons-Harris, No. 00-1751 Supreme Court Decision

On June 27, 2002 a 5-4 Supreme Court ruling upheld the constitutionality of an Ohio school voucher program, ruling for the first time that the government may give financial aid to parents so they can send their children to religious or private schools. The court's ruling was on three consolidated cases: Zelman v. Simmons-Harris, No. 00-1751; Hanna Perkins School v. Simmons-Harris, No. 00-1777; and Taylor v. Simmons-Harris, No. 00-1779.
