 Senate Bill 1704:
To amend the Public Health Service
Act to establish a State family support grant program to end the
practice of parents giving legal custody of their seriously
emotionally disturbed children to State agencies for the purpose
of obtaining mental health services for those children
Be it enacted by the
Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of
America in Congress assembled: This
Act may be cited as the "Keeping Families Together Act"
It is the purpose of this Act to assist States in eliminating the
practice of parents giving custody of their seriously emotionally
disturbed children to State agencies for the purpose of securing
mental health care for those children.
