United States v. State of Texas Monitoring Team Report for Mexia State Supported Living Center

Since January 2010, compliance monitoring teams approved by the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) and Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) have been conducting baseline reviews. At the Mexia State Supported Living Center, the monitoring team said staff were focused on individualized planning and community placement. They also noted that the rapidity of discharges needed to be balanced to ensure completion of all needed treatments before discharge and to ensure adequate training for community provider organizations. The monitoring team was concerned about the need for Mexia to integrate clinical services, accurately monitor risk factors, and implement positive behavior support plans.
