CMS Letter to State Medicaid Directors About Community Living Initiative

The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) sent a letter to the state Medicaid directors listing tools and information states can use to further implement the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) along with the Supreme Court's Olmstead decision. This letter showed the Obama Administration's commitment to supporting the community living for people with disabilities. CMS tools to support community living include technical assistance, managed long-term services and supports, capacity building activities and coordination related to affordable housing, and home-and community-based services waivers and state plan options, along with tools related to discharge planning.
