Vermont law, S. 263

On May 19, 2010, Vermont's Benefit Corporation Law (S. 236) was passed. The law becomes effective July 1, 2011. This law recognizes and describes a new corporate structure, called a benefit corporation that enables a for-profit company to legally implement operating activities and policies to benefit the community
