Represents Significant Costs
The California State Auditor looked at the small number of inmates receiving specialty health care in fiscal year 2007-2008. Specialty health care providers received
$529 million for services provided to inmates. Along with the number of inmates receiving specialty care, the auditor also looked at the number of inmates sentenced
under the three strikes law, and staffing problems.
