Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opioid Addiction: Facts for Families and Friends
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services wrote this report to teach the population more about the opioid addiction. Opioids are powerful drugs that slow
down actions of the body such as breathing and heartbeat. This drug can easily be misused since doctors prescribed the drug for treatment of pain and the patient
can become tolerant to the drug. The report describes treatment for opioid addiction and how family and friends are a vital part of the process.
