ShareThe Partnership Attitude Tracking Study: Teens 2005

The 2005 Partnership Attitude Tracking Study shows that substance abuse among seventh through twelfth grade students continues to decline.  Self-reported use rates of the following drugs in 2005 are:

  • 37% marijuana

  • 20% inhalants

  • 19% prescription medication, such as Ritalin or pain relievers not prescribed for them

  • 10% cough medicine

  • 10% crack or cocaine

  • 8% methamphetamine

  • 8% ecstasy

  • 6% LSD

  • 5% heroin

  • 4% ketamine

  • 4% GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate)-a depressant

The data in this report were collected from March through June 2005. Adolescents in grades seven through 12 were questioned with an oversampling of African- and Hispanic-American populations. Adolescents completed self-administered questionnaires under the supervision of Roper's interviewers. The anonymity of all respondents was maintained throughout the study.
