Prenatal and Postpartum Depression in Fathers and Its Association With Maternal Depression: A Meta-analysis

The American Medical Association published the report titled, Prenatal and Postpartum Depression in Fathers and Its Association With Maternal Depression following their Meta-analysis in May 2010. The analysis was to describe point estimates and variability in rates of paternal prenatal and postpartum depression over time and its association with maternal depression. The analysis compiled studies from MEDLINE, PsycINFO, EMBASE, Google Scholar, dissertation abstracts, and reference lists that documented depression in fathers between the first trimester and the first postpartum year. The information was collected between January 1980 and October 2009. The report presents the methods and data sources, study selection, data extraction, and data synthesis of the analysis.
