Prisons: How Cutting Corrections Can Save Money and Protect Public Safety
The Justice Policy Institute (JPI) conducted a
study on the cost-effect of incarceration. Some alternatives include
community-based treatment facilities and reform of current practices. According to the study it is not cost-effective to incarcerate
individuals but rather an alternative to incarceration would not only
benefit individuals but save the United State billions of dollars.
