 Successful Transitions for People With
Developmental Disabilities: A Report of the NCIOM Task Force on
Transitions for People With Developmental Disabilities
The North Carolina General Assembly convened a
task force at the North Carolina Institute of Medicine to study issues
related to helping people with intellectual and/or developmental
disabilities transition to adulthood or other living arrangements. The
task force recommends comprehensive, individualized services and support
to enhance independence, productivity, inclusion and
self-determination in the community, with an emphasis on educational
outcomes and opportunities, transitional issues, technology and finances.
