Relationship between student illicit drug use and school drug-testing policies

The largest nationwide study of student drug testing found no difference in drug use rates between students of schools that have drug testing programs and those that do not. The study entitled "Relationship between student illicit drug use and school drug-testing policies," was published in the May 2003 issue of the Journal of School Health. It reviewed 76,000 students across the country. Last year, the Supreme Court decided that drug testing of students who participated in extra-curricular activities was a constitutional practice.
