Conflict of Interest in Medical Research, Education, and Practice
The Institute of Medicines
(IOM) Committee on Conflict of Interest in Medical Research, Education,
and Practice released 16 recommendations to reduce conflicts of interest.
The recommendations focus on conflicts involving pharmaceutical, medical
device, and biotechnology companies, but seek to manage conflicts without
affecting constructive collaborations within industry. Overall, the
recommendations encompass the following concepts to strengthen conflict
of interest policies across the fields of medical research, education,
and practice.
