Final Rule for Medicaid Program; Federal Funding for Medicaid Eligibility Determination & Enrollment Activities
On April 14, 2011, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
released rules increasing the federal Medicaid matching rate to 90% for states'
costs to develop and upgrade their information technology (IT) systems to help
people enroll in Medicaid or the state Children's Health Insurance Plan. States
will receive a 75% federal match for their IT systems operational costs for the
eligibility determination and enrollment system. The rules establish performance
standards for the improved eligibility systems.
