Proposed Rule for the Medicaid Program; Home & Community-Based Services (HCBS) Waivers

On April 14, 2011, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released details about four initiatives intended to give states more flexibility to coordinate care for Medicare and Medicaid dual eligibles and target home- and community-based services to enhance community living options for individuals with disabilities. Fifteen states will receive up to $1 million in federal funding to work with the new Federal Coordinated Health Care Office to develop better ways to coordinate primary, acute, behavioral and long-term supports and services for dual-eligibles.
