Mayview Regional Service Area Plan (MRSAP) Revised Planning Document

Stakeholders in five southwestern Pennsylvania counties Beaver, Greene, Lawrence, Washington and Allegheny as the Mayview Regional Service Area Plan (MRSAP) committee are developing a regional system to support recovery and community integration for people returning home from or at risk of entering hospitalization at Mayview State Hospital. The five counties submitted a plan to the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare (DPW) in 2003, but DPW said the plan needed more specifics and more evidence of regional planning. The counties contracted with Allegheny HealthChoices Inc. (AHCI) to coordinate the planning process. In 2007, DPW said it planned to close Mayview, a state psychiatric hospital that served the southwest region of the state.

The MRSAP Revised Planning Document, released July 25, 2007, identifies the counties plans for increased development of community-based services. Three initial committees Steering, Assessment and Discharge Planning, and Finance have been augmented by a Quality Management Committee, which will track aggregate information on Community Support Planning and individuals who have been discharged. Within the Quality Management Committee, tasks are split between three subcommittees focused on tracking, state operated services committee, and front door/diversion.
