Iowa Medicaid Pharmacy Program Changes

The Iowa Department of Human Services (BHS) released a new draft rule for psychotropic medications on the Medicaid Preferred Drug List (PDL). Previously, antipsychotic medications were exempt from the PDL. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in Iowa expressed their conserns about inclusion of antipsychotic medication, and starting in January 2011, antipsychotics will be included in the PDL.
