Arrestee Drug Abuse Monitoring Program (ADAM II)
A
national 10-city study conducted by the Office of National Drug Control Policy reviewed arrestee drug use.
The researchers found that in 2008 between
48.6% and 86.5% of adult males who voluntarily provided a urine sample
tested positive for drug use. The most common substances were marijuana,
cocaine, opiates, and methamphetamine. The ADAM II study includes drug
testing data on male arrestees booked for offenses in 10 metropolitan
areas. The ADAM II sites are Atlanta, Georgia; Charlotte, North Carolina;
Denver, Colorado; Chicago, Illinois; Indianapolis, Indiana; Minneapolis,
Minnesota; New York, New York; Portland, Oregon; Sacramento, California;
and Washington, District of Columbia.
