 Child Welfare Lawsuit Paved the Way for Reform
This resource is a timeline of the LaShawn A. class action lawsuit. It began in
1989 and was settled in 1991 when the District of Columbia reached a
settlement with the American Civil Liberties Union (which had
brought the suit). The settlement specified that the District would
be able to end the lawsuit in 2007.
