CenterSite for Behavioral Healthcare Providers
According to LifeOptions Chief Operating Officer
Mike McDonald, the CenterSite product was designed to meet the need of
behavioral health and social service organizations for web technology in
two domains -- (1) community web presence with up-to-date consumer health
information and (2) a platform for building both interactive consumer
services and internal web-based administrative services.
In his presentation, Mr. McDonald reminded the
audience that it is consumers who are leading the charge in the use of
web technology in health care. More than 56 percent of adults in United
States are now on-line (114 million); 86 percent of those individuals use
their on-line access to search for health information; and 47 percent of
those seeking information on-line say it directly affected their
decisions about treatment and doctors. In addition, 89 percent of
individuals on-line are interested in getting on-line information from
their own physician. At the same time, most large payers and purchasers
of health and human services - from HMOs to state departments of mental
health - are developing reporting and billing systems that are dependent
on technology solutions for implementation.
Mr. McDonald also outlined the future plans of
CenterSite to build clinical and administrative functionality.
