Review of Arizona's Medicaid Claims for School-Based Health Services
The Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Inspector General (OIG), found
that the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) may have been
overpaid by $21 million for Medicaid school-based health services provided
between January 2004 and June 2006. AHCCCS claimed school-based services that were unallowable by Medicaid; OIG said AHCCCS lacked adequate controls to ensure that claims for Medicaid school-based health services submitted by local education agencies complied with federal and state
requirements.
