This report details the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services
Administration (SAMHSA) progress in implementing National Registry
of Evidence-Based Programs (NREPP). It includes background and
the public comments generated after the initial NREPP posting in the Federal Register in August 2005. SAMHSA's new NREPP approach is discussed, and the specific dimensions of the NREPP system that will serve as a decision support tool.
The report describes:
- The broader base of NREPP that includes chemical dependency prevention and treatment, and mental disorder prevention and treatment
- A new evaulation process for all programs and practices to be included in NREPP
- A description of how NREPP content can promote better decisionmaking by state and community programs looking for models that work
- A summary of more than 130 public comments responding to the August 2005 posting which guided NREPP changes.
