Statement by Lieutenant General Eric B. Schoomaker, M.D., Ph.D., About the Fiscal Year 2011 Defense Health Program
Lieutenant General Schoomaker described the Army's behavioral health initiatives through the Virtual Behavioral Health Pilot, standardized events-driven
identification and management of traumatic brain injury on the battlefield ,and early diagnosis and treatment of post-traumatic stress reactions and acute stress
reactions. He also described the need for transitioning to a prevention-based health care system.
