Federal Expenditures on Pre-Kindergartners and Kindergartners in 2008 (Ages 3-5)

This report, written in March 2010 by several authors from Urban Institute, Brookings Institution, and University of Michigan, titled Federal Expenditures on Pre- Kindergartners and Kindergartners in 2008, examines federal spending on children ages 3 through 8. This report provides a first-time analysis of the nation's current spending on these children by outlining 2008 federal expenditures from more than 100 federal programs. The report discusses, in detail, the methods used in calculating the federal expenditures these children receive, how much is spent on these children, where and how the funds are spent, and what the future trends are for these children based on current policies.
