Arkansas Senate Bill 913
Arkansas Senate Bill 913 was introduced by State Senator Mary Anne Salmon
on March 9, 2009. The bill would require private health insurance
companies to cover the diagnosis and treatment of ASD. Coverage must be
provided for treatments prescribed, provided, or ordered by a licensed
physician or licensed psychologist who deems the care to be
evidence-based and medically necessary. Covered treatments include:
diagnosis, habilitative or rehabilitative care, pharmacy care,
psychiatric care, psychological care, therapeutic care, and Applied
Behavioral Analysis. The bill only applies to fully-funded group health
plans governed by state law.
