Oregon DHS 2009 Child Welfare Data Book

In February 2010, Oregon's Department of Human Services (DHS) published the 2009 Child Welfare Data Book. Research was conducted by the Children, Adults, and Families Division. The 2009 child welfare information marks the first time the "data book" format has been used. The goal of the system is to provide accurate information about the children who come into Oregon's child welfare system due to abuse or neglect. The report refers to Oregon's DHS Child Welfare's strategic planning process, outlining a set of goals in two critical focus areas. The first is to safely and equitably reduce the number of children in foster care. The second area concerns the safety of children in the foster care system.
