H.R. 4247 Keeping All Students Safe Act
In December 9, 2009, the Keeping All Students Safe Act was introduced to the House of Representatives. It was then referred to the Senate for further consideration.
This U.S. bill will prevent and reduce the use of physical restraint and
seclusion in schools and will prohibit physical and mental abuse. It will also prohibit any physical
restraint or seclusion used for the purposes of discipline or convenience. This bill will require states, local education agencies, and schools to create policies related
to the use of restraints and seclusion, along with parent/guardian notification.
