Acceptance of Private Health Insurance in Substance Abuse Treatment Facilities

The Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration released a report on January 6, 2011, on the acceptance of private health insurance in substance abuse treatment facilities. In 2008, 65% of substance abuse treatment facilities accepted some private health insurance as a form of client payment. Insurance acceptance was higher at facilities providing mental health care (85% accepted private insurance), general health care (82% accepted private insurance), or a mix of mental health services and substance abuse treatment (78% accepted private health insurance).
