ShareFlorida Nursing Home Resident Data 2001 Report

This report prepared by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) shows trends in the characteristics of nursing home residents. Most nursing home residents discharged in 1998 had a short-term stay not exceeding 100 days. In 1998, more than 86% of nursing home admissions came from a hospital.

Residents in their early eighties continued to be the most common age group at admission. Unspecified diagnoses and musculoskeletal diseases/disorders were the most frequently reported diagnoses at admission. Nursing home residents that stayed longer than one year were infrequently discharged home.
