Ramsey Nursing Home Task Force Report
In May 2004, the Ramsey County, Minnesota, Board of Commissioners
appointed a 21-member Task
Force of community stakeholders to review the issues surrounding the
county-owned Ramsey Nursing
Home and develop a set of options by December 1, 2004, for the Board
to consider to determine the
future of the facility. The Task Force members were to:
-
Identify options for the future of Ramsey Nursing Home
-
Determine the relative advantages and disadvantages of each option
considered
-
Cost out the financial implications of each option
-
Present options to the Board with advantages, disadvantages, and
financial implications of each option spelled out
From July 8 to November 22, 2004, the Task Force held eight meetings
to learn more about the
County mission, the continuum of care for seniors, and the problems
and issues confronting Ramsey
Nursing Home and the industry in general. The Task Force also
brainstormed about potential
options to address the financial viability of the Ramsey Nursing
Home. While this timeframe
allowed for initial assessment of some options, Task Force members
believe further financial
analysis is necessary. Therefore, this report includes those options
the Task Force believes are
viable and worthy of further consideration, study, and financial
analysis by the County Board.
