Los Angeles Unified School District Fall 2010 Public School Choice Applicant Team Recommendations

The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is engaged in a comprehensive system transformation—called Public School Choice—that started in August 2009. After the board released a request for proposals in November 2009 it received 180 letters of interest from a range of organizations that included teacher-run organizations at the affected schools, parent organizations, and non-profit local and national charter school management organizations. The LAUSD board received 85 proposals by the January 11, 2010 due date. On February 23, 2010, the board selected 30 proposals to operate 24 new schools and 12 low- performing schools starting in the 2010-2011 school year.
