ShareKansas Taskforce to End Chronic Homelessness: Plan to End Chronic Homelessness

On January 23, 2008, the Wichita-Sedgwick County, Kansas Taskforce to End Chronic Homelessness (TECH) released its Plan to End Chronic Homelessness. TECH sought to identify service gaps and make recommendations to the county. TECH noted that the area lacks a centralized facility or phone number for people seeking housing assistance. The area also lacks permanent housing with supportive services for people who are chronically homeless, transportation services, and all services lack sustainable and timely annual funding.

The plan calls for development of 64 permanent supportive housing units and at least 25 emergency beds. In addition, TECH recommended the creation of a one-stop resource center so that homeless people can learn about available services.
