 Driving for Quality in Long-Term Care: A Board of Directors Dashboard
Government-Industry Roundtable
This report presents the results of a December
6, 2007, meeting for members of the long-term care industry that was
hosted by the Health Care Compliance Association and the Office of the Inspector General (OIG)
of the federal Department of Health and Human Services. The attendees
discussed ways to improve boards of directors oversight of quality of
care provided in long-term care facilities, but were not charged with
reaching a consensus. A key goal was to specify items that could be
included on a Quality of Care Dashboard to be offered as a tool for
boards of directors of long-term care organizations. The attendees
included representatives from OIG, professionals involved with
not-for-profit and for-profit organizations, professionals from
multi-facility and single facility organizations, national and
locally-based organizations.
