 Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009
The bill was signed into law on February 4, 2009. Coverage will be expanded
to another 4.1 million uninsured children, beyond those already covered by
SCHIP. The increased coverage will be funded by increased federal excise
taxes on tobacco products. A fund of $100 million is established to make
grants to states, local governments, schools and others to enroll more
eligible children.
