Texas DFPS House Committee on Human Services: Interim Hearing on Child
Welfare Reform
This report was presented by the Commissioner of the Texas Department of
Family and Protective Services, Carey D. Cockrell, to the Texas
Legislature House Committee on Human Services. The report covered the
Department's goals for improving the child welfare system, including
keeping families together, reducing the length of time spent in foster
care, improving the quality and accountability of foster care, reducing
caseloads, and staff retention.
