The Pennsylvania Long-Term Living 2006-2007 Budget Initiatives The Long Term Living Budget
Initiatives Presentation details the current demographics driving use of Pennsylvania home and community-based services and long-term care facilities.
Key Points:
- The 85 and older age group has increased by 9% since July, 2003. Medicaid long-term living use has gone up
correspondingly
- The elderly and persons with physical disabilities use the greatest share of Medicaid
resources. Elderly use 35%, Disabled use 33%, Children and families use 24%, and Chronically Ill adults use 8%.
- Medicaid Nursing Facility Expenditures have increased by more than $400M from FY02-03 to FY05-06 FY06-07 budget provides another $140M to nursing homes.
- Nursing Home assessments have helped fill the gap, but reductions in Federal IGT Nursing Facility Funding
funding have required significant investment in state resources to fund
increasing Nursing Facility expenditures.
