The State We're In
Published by the State of the States, The State We're In 2010, summarizes the health care accomplishments of each state during 2009 and also addresses trends
in state health policy. The key sections of this report include Surveying the Landscape, Medicaid and CHIP, Insurance Reform, and Delivery System and Payment
Reform. The Surveying the Landscape section focuses on trends in health care cost and coverage. The Medicaid and CHIP section focuses on focuses on
Medicaid and CHIP programs and how the federal and state governments regulate the funding and eligibility of these programs. The Insurance Reform section
focuses on how states are improving the functioning of the small group and individual markets with an emphasis on insurance. Lastly, the Delivery System and
Payment Reform section focuses on the multi-payer efforts to improve primary care and increased care coordination during a time of great uncertainty for states.
Even in a challenging environment where financial strain has forced states to be resourceful, this report is evidence that states continued to show leadership in
2009.
