Maximizing Kids' Enrollment in Medicaid and SCHIP: What Works in Reaching, Enrolling, and Retaining Eligible Children
This report, by Victoria Wachino and Alice M. Weiss, examines strategies to increase enrollment of eligible children in public health coverage programs.
This report is a product of the Maximizing Enrollment for Kids program, a four-year initiative of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) to increase enrollment and retention of children who are eligible for public health coverage programs like Medicaid and the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) but not enrolled. Under the direction of the National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP), which serves as the national program office, Maximizing Enrollment for Kids aims to help states improve their systems, policies, and procedures to increase the number of eligible kids covered by these programs and to strengthen public understanding of strategies that work to enroll eligible but uninsured children.
