Maximizing Program Services Through Private Sector Partnerships and Relationships The availability of community-based services rests on a partnership
between those who have the skills to provide services, those who
need the services, and those who can provide funding for the
services. Without any one of these partners, community-based
services struggle. The United States Department of Health and Human
Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
strongly supports the growth of the community-based services
partnerships; however, SAMHSA recognizes that gaining community and
corporate funding for services may be outside service providers'
comfort zones. To help providers, advocates, and board members make
this critical connection with funders, SAMHSA has issued this guide.
The report offers guidance on how faith-and community-based
organizations can engage corporate givers and foundation grant
makers. There are five steps:
- Assessing organizational strengths
and weaknesses
- Seeking a broad base of support
- Attracting corporate partners
- Submitting strong grant proposals
- Building and sustaining
relationships
